 Project Goals:

  • Provide swaddle sleepers to infants to help in the prevention of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
  • Provide safe sleep education to parents of newborns up to age two.
  • Create community awareness of the importance of safe sleep habits for young children.

 Project Reasoning:

  • Many new parents are leaving the hospital without knowledge of safe sleep or items needed to insure infant safety.
  • The rate of SIDS has dropped by 50% since the “Back to Sleep” campaign.
    1. Maintains a patent airway
    2. Limits the re-breathing of CO2
    3. Side sleeping is better than stomach sleeping, but still TWICE the risk of back.
